to celebrate a life

In the Mormon faith when a baby enters this world, innocent and pure,
rather than celebrating their life through baptism,
a baby is given a name and a blessing. 

The name that she will be known throughout her life is 

Reagan Michelle

 

My sister asked me to photograph the heirloom pieces Reagan wore for her blessing.

I was privileged enough to go with her in choosing the dress. This one spoke to us, it's simplicity and elegance. The blanket was made by my mother, the shoes by a neighbor, other timeless pieces that are sure to last for generations to come.

I'll be taking pictures of Reagan in the dress soon... I can't wait. She's so beautiful!!

Isn't she the most stunning little creature ever?! The curls alone!
Oh. My. Goodness!
I've had the chance to have her in my cute little pre-school class this year and I can't help but snuggle her to peices every single day.
She has grown so much since our last session (see here and here) and since the beginning of the school year.
She is such a doll! I love this girl!!

But... despite all her adorable-ness and her ever present beauty this little one
has a mind of her own.
The only things that kept her in one place was:
a. cheerios
and 
b. my reflector that she used a cushioned seat.

She challenged me with her .5 millisecond eye contact with the camera, very little interest in:
1. being held by mom or dad
2. sitting
3. standing
4. or in any other way being told what to do

and yet...

WOW!!
Timeless images.

She must have known what she was doing all along.
A little mysterious, a little hard to get. Watch out Boys!
This one is in control and we all stand in awe!

Uh.. Hello Gorgeous!!

Totally loving the chance I had to take her to one of my favorite spots in Frankfurt for some urban portraits. It helped that she has legs for days and did better than to follow my "uh... do... yeah that. Ok now hold it" type commands, and just totally rocked this session.

Engaged, and so in love.

I just went through their entire session... about 400 images. And let me just tell you that every single photograph is absolutely GORGEOUS!

I am really having a hard time narrowing it down to the selection I want to share, because seriously, I want to show you all of them!

Love is truly the best thing in the world to photograph, and it makes my job a lot easier. I made a complete fool of myself laying sideways on that cobblestone street, and juggling that enormous silver reflector, and of course that incredibly disgraceful joke I attempted to tell nearing the end (most definitely should have been avoided {at all costs.}) When really I didn't need to do a thing other than to just let them be.

And let love take it from there.
